My story
Where to start....
My names Jacob Rees and I started off where everyone does... the beginning, I discovered I had a love for sculpting and story telling when I was 12 years old around the time where I was diagnosed with High functioning Asperger Syndrome, with practice, hard work and passion I was able to develop and tone my skills to where I am now, and I’m still learning new and exciting things!
I have a love of the weird and strange and show it through my work as I love designing, sculpting and writing about all the weird monsters and creatures of my imagination, and with the education I have developed a love for set and prop building for stop motion animated movies and love giving every detail necessary to create wonderful and whimsical sets that could take you away to distant lands or deepest dungeons!
Education and experience
Since first started school I always loved art to the point where I specialised in Art where I began to develop a love of sculpting, I took these skills through GCSE’s and Alevels where I took a greater interest in StopMotion animation, and although I’m no animator I am a passionate sculptor that became more passionate about set and prop building. I took this love even further from school and gained more experience on a foundation art degree to experience different forms of art which helped me greatly to come out of my comfort zone and find new methods of working with my particular media.
After that I started my university adventure where I discovered I was more a set builder than an animator and the experience has made me really open up to different methods and stepping out of my comfort zone! I am currently coming toward the end of final year studying StopMotion animation, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be stopping anytime soon!
What’s my goal?
I will always be a sculptor whether it be set building, sculpting monsters, or commission work when available, but this Is a way for me to really show you all the time and effort that goes into each and everyone of my sculptures, sets and stories, I would one day love to become a professional set and prop builder, but that doesn’t mean I will stop sculpting!
